Summer 2019 Bucket List

It’s finally here!  Summer!  I’m sure you can all relate to that feeling of bliss when July finally hits and the summer months are in full swing (if you live in the Northern hemisphere anyway!)  Here in Saskatchewan, I think we are particularly grateful when the summer months are finally upon us, having survived so many months of brutally cold winter temperatures.  Seriously, here in SK, we have snow for at least six months of the year, often longer, and so I think we really take advantage of the fair-weather months and have truly learned how to celebrate summer!

Because my husband and I are both teachers, we also appreciate summer in a unique way – it’s our time in the year to really unwind, and to truly focus on creating memories with our kids.  So, one of the things we like to do every summer is create a “Summer Bucket List” of activities we want to try to do in the months of July and August.  We like to focus on local activities specifically, and also things that don’t break the bank, although we do always throw a few bigger activities in there too.

Our first list is a list of all of the activities we hope to complete this summer as a family! We try to incorporate a range of activities from backyard fun, to road-trip adventures, to charitable opportunities.  The summer is a great chance to both enjoy, and give back, to your community!

Our family knows that it isn’t always possible to hit the road and plan big adventures in the summertime. Due to my health issues both last summer and again this summer, we have opted to stay close to home, but we have discovered that there are so many things to do right in our own backyard – literally, and figuratively!  Check out the list below for our favourite family activities for an eventful summer staycation that won’t break the bank!

So – I’ll keep you posted on our progress this summer!  I’m hoping we can cross off every one of our items, but that might be a tad ambitious!  What does your family love to do in the summertime?  How do you celebrate summer?  I would love to hear what you would add to our lists!
