Fade Away Laser & Skin Centre YXE

Let’s just be honest. We all have things about ourselves we wouldn’t mind changing. I’ll be the first one to say that I think as women, there is a ton of pressure to conform to a certain standard of beauty, which can be stressful! However, I also think that practicing some self-care habits that genuinely make us feel better about ourselves because it’s what WE want to do individually, is really healthy!

For me, one of the ways that I indulge in a little self-care that makes me feel good about myself – for ME – is with lazer hair removal and facial treatments at Fade Away Laser YXE. When owner Noural reached out to me on Instagram offering me my first treatments, I jumped at the chance! I had always wanted to deal with hair removal permanently, but it just wasn’t something I had prioritized up to that point. Now after several treatments, I can’t believe I waited so long!

So far, I have had the Fire & Ice Facial and Fractional Resurfacing Treatments on my face. I have also had lazer hair removal treatments on my underarms, bikini line, and most recently decided to upgrade to the full-Brazilian treatment. Honestly, I was so nervous about the lazer treatments – because I was so worried it would be painful. However, the cool air used in combination with the lazer has made every treatment a “breeze” and I’m truly so happy with the results.

I often receive questions about the different treatments I’ve had at Fade Away Laser YXE, so I recently chatted with Noural and together we compiled a list of frequently asked questions, which Noural has graciously answered below! Thinking about getting lazer hair removal or facial treatments, but just aren’t sure yet whether or not it’s for you? Keep reading!

1.) What is laser hair removal?

Laser Hair Removal is a non-invasive laser treatment designed to permanently reduce unwanted hair. The laser device works by emitting pulses of light energy that penetrate the skin and destroy hair follicles

2.) Is laser hair removal painful?

At Fade Away Laser & Skin Centre, your comfort is our top priority. That is why we use an award winning Zimmer system. The system continuously blows out -30 degrees cold air before, during, and after the treatment, keeping your skin numb & cool throughout. Making this treatment virtually painless

3.) Is laser hair removal safe for all skin types?

With the appropriate laser technology, all skin types can be treated safely. Darker skin types can be particularly at risk of side-effects if treated with IPL or the wrong type of laser. That is why at Fade Away Laser & Skin Centre we only use gold-standard lasers. The Nd:Yag laser is the gold-standard laser to treat darker skin types as it is the safest & most effective laser to use on darker skin tones. The Alexandrite laser is the gold-standard laser for lighter skin tones, because it has the highest melanin absorption and proven to give the best results.

4.) Who is the best candidate for laser hair removal?

During a laser hair removal treatment, the laser targets the hair follicles through its melanin density. Therefore, the darker the hair is, the more melanin it has, and the easier it is for the laser to target.

Hair that is too light; blonde, white, grey and red hair does not have enough melanin and cannot be detected by the laser.

5.) Does laser hair removal help with ingrown hair?

Laser hair removal is the only real solution for ingrown hair. We can treat active ingrown hairs & reduce the likelihood of future ingrowns. Once you complete the recommended course of treatments, ingrown hairs will be a thing of the past!

6.) How many treatments are needed?

For the best outcome, we recommend 6 to 8 treatments. However, you will notice a difference from the first treatment! The number of sessions required varies from person to person, depending on skin type, hair colour, thickness of the hair and the area being treated.
Each hair strand cycles through 3 phases. Only the hair in the Anagen phase (aka growth phase) can be destroyed. However, not every hair can be in the same phase at the same time, hence, multiple treatments are needed. After each treatment you will notice a substantial reduction in hair.

7.) What to expect after a LHR treatment?

After a Laser Hair Removal treatment you will notice the shedding phase, aka when the laser addiction begins!

5-30 days after the Laser Hair Removal treatment, those targeted hair follicles will shed their hair and will not be able to grow another hair.
If you let the hair follicle grow, you will be able to see the hair shedding phase.

8.) Are there side effects to laser hair removal?

All medical and cosmetic procedures are associated with certain risks and may result in complications.

To minimize the chances of the side effects, it is important that you follow all post-treatment instructions provided for you. Sun exposure, tanning beds and artificial tanners can increase the risk of side effects and adverse reactions.

9.) Do hormones affect the laser hair removal treatment, will the hair really be gone or will I need touch ups?

The hair removed during the treatment is permanently gone! However, if you experience hormonal changes, your body can stimulate a dormant hair cycle, which can appear as new hair growth. The hair rarely grows back like before and may just need a treatment or two to stop the hair growth.

10.) What kind of facials do you offer?

At Fade Away Laser and Skin Centre, we offer a variety of customized treatments to treat moderate to severe skin conditions. Our facial services include, dermaplaning, microneedling, chemical peels, IPL treatments, fractional laser skin rejuvenation, dermalinfusion and more! We customize all facials to ensure you are getting the perfect treatment for your skin concerns and needs.

11.) What do you offer for removing sunspots?

Our sun/age spot removal treatment uses advanced IPL technology to permanently remove sun or age spots by pulling the uneven pigment out of the skin and onto the surface, sloughing it off, and forcing it to fall right off, getting rid of it completely.

Along with evening out the skin tone, this treatment also has the benefits of smoothing out the skin’s texture and removing/fading broken capillaries caused by the environment or lifestyle. This is a safe and non-invasive procedure that can be tailored to the specific skin condition to provide superior results!

12.) What is your favourite treatment that you offer?

My favourite treatment is, without a doubt, our Unload the Junk Facial. This is an advanced skin-resurfacing treatment that combines exfoliation, extraction, and infusion of condition-specific serums to improve skin health, function and appearance. This treatment first begins with a steam & facial massage to boost blood flow and soften the pores. Then we begin the best part of the treatment, Dermalinfusion!

Dermalinfusion exfoliates the skin with a diamond tip microdermabrasion to remove any old, dry and damaged skin cells.
Then we extract all of the junk sitting in the skin! ALL OF IT- blackheads, whiteheads, bacteria, dead skin cells etc. We then infuse the skin with a condition-specific serum related to the skin concern. Once your skin is rejuvenated and the pores are completely cleansed, we apply a hydrojelly mask to soothe and hydrate the skin.

This treatment is perfect for anyone suffering from clogged pores, dull skin, acne and blackheads.

My journey with laser hair removal and facial treatments at Fade Away Laser YXE has been very rewarding, and I’ve definitely felt more confident in myself, particularly as I’m entering the second half of my thirties, and realizing that I need to be more intentional in my skin care routines.

If you’re thinking of having anything done yourself, and you live in the Saskatoon area – trust Noural and her amazing team of trained professionals. We wear our skin all day, everyday, and we deserve to feel great in it!
